Bennett Lai's Personal Story
My life story which brought me across the globe is a rather flavorful and inspirational one. I was born in Hong Kong and came over to the US around 2008-2009 to attend boarding school for my high school. I traveled to Ann Arbor for my degree, California for work, and stopped in France for a few years waiting for my green card before I came back to America.
I've been lucky enough to sample baked treats from my childhood in Hong Kong, Ann Arbor, California, and France - through my life's experience on 3 different continents, I'm hoping that I can bring the different cuisines as well as practices and values to my community members in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti... starting with my childhood snack - the egg tart :)
Our Signature Product: What is an Egg Tart?
An egg tart is a pastry that is beloved by people worldwide. It takes on many forms, as its ingredients and flavors vary between regions and cultures. They are eaten as snacks or desserts and pair well with a variety of drinks. Typically, an egg tart consists of a sweet custard filling made from eggs, milk, and sugar baked in a tart shell. Currently, our bakery makes two of the most popular styles: Hong Kong and Portuguese. But what's the difference? Learn more about our egg tarts below!
